Applications for the 2026 ELGP are now open!

We are excited to announce that applications for the 2026 Emerging Leaders in Governance Program (ELGP) are officially open!

Each year, ELGP welcomes 20 passionate and purpose-driven young leaders to take part in this unique opportunity to grow their leadership capabilities, deepen their understanding of the NFP and aged care sectors, and build the skills and confidence to step onto a Board. If you’ve ever considered Board leadership as part of your career or community impact goals, this program is designed to help you get there.

Over four transformational months, ELGP will guide you through practical, face-to-face workshops that combine hands-on governance learning with powerful self leadership development. You will be mentored by experienced Board members, CEOs and changemakers across the sector, and you will leave the program with fresh perspectives, new connections, and a clearer path forward.

Whether you’re a seasoned professional ready to pivot into purpose-driven work, or an emerging changemaker eager to step into your leadership potential, ELGP could be the launchpad you’ve been looking for.

Catch up on the Information Session

Last night, we held our annual ELGP Information Session, and what a night it was! Led by Program Founder and Facilitator, Alicia Curtis, the virtual session brought together a passionate group of prospective applicants from across WA for an inspiring and informative discussion.

Alicia gave an inside look into the program’s design, philosophy and impact, from what participants can expect week-to-week, to the kinds of Boards alumni now serve on. She also shared insights into what makes a great application, how the selection process works, and the types of leaders we are looking to support through ELGP.

The Q&A that followed was full of thoughtful, insightful questions, from application tips and eligibility criteria to scholarship availability and what participants can expect after graduation. It was a testament to the calibre of applicants this program attracts and to the growing interest in purpose-led governance.

If you missed it, don’t worry! You can catch up on everything we covered by watching the recording below.

Is this your year to apply?

If you’re ready to take the next step in your leadership journey, now is the time to act. The ELGP is designed for those who are committed to giving back through Board service, and who are ready to explore how their skills, lived experience and passions can contribute to a more inclusive community sector.

The 2026 program runs from February to May and includes weekly evening workshops, a weekend leadership retreat, community site visits, and pre-reading requirements. Participation in all program components is essential, so it’s important to consider whether you can commit to the full schedule before applying. You will find all the key dates and program information in the 2026 Program Prospectus. (linked).

As Alicia says:

“I know stepping onto a board can feel daunting, that’s exactly why we created this program. It’s important to make sure the program is the right fit for you, and that you’re ready to invest the time to truly benefit from the experience. The information session is a great opportunity to understand what ELGP is all about and how to put your best foot forward in your application.”

And from our recent alumni:

“The program offers valuable opportunities and guidance, but ultimately the experience is shaped by how much each participant chooses to engage and invest in their own development.” – 2025 ELGP Alumni, Tristan Bonthuys

My feedback to new participants would be to carve out time and the commitment to do the program, don’t pursue it when you are already struggling to meet your existing commitments, you won’t get as much out of it as you will benefit from the additional time to reflect and build your leadership identity.” – 2025 ELGP Alumni, Melissa Koh

Yes, it’s a commitment, but it’s also a launchpad.

By the end of the program, you will walk away with the confidence to contribute meaningfully in the Boardroom, a powerful network of peers and mentors, and a deeper understanding of how to create impact in the community sector.

This is your chance to take that next step. Apply now, and don’t forget to share this opportunity with other emerging leaders in your network who should be part of this journey too. Applications close at midnight on 9 October 2025.

Apply today!
