Driving diversity: An inspirational guide to board participation and creating change

It’s no secret that recruiting talent with a variety of skills, experiences and backgrounds is essential to achieving business success. So why is it that boardrooms have struggled to keep up with these calls for change?

Would you like to know more about the nature of diversity on some of Western Australia’s not-for-profit boards? The Emerging Young Leaders in Governance (ELGP) program has developed a free Ebook designed to explore the role of diversity on boards.

The goal of the Ebook was to create a resource that would help boards rethink the way they approach diversity by profiling a range of Non-For-Profit (NFP) directors currently working in the Western Australian community sector. The Ebook includes 18 interviews with Western Australian Board members to understand their views on diversity, and how diversity impacts their Board roles.  “Driving diversity: An inspirational guide for change” is designed to help understand some of the difficulties facing organisations today and how diversity plays a role in preparing boards to meet these challenges.

The result was a rich collection of perspectives advocating for diversity in Western Australian NFP boards and the benefits it provides both organisations and the communities they serve.

What the Ebook includes

The Ebook includes interview profiles from 18 Western Australian Board members who share their perspectives on diversity to inspire community members, both young and old, to embrace diversity, feel confident in their desire to join boards and become a driving force for change in our communities.

We would like to thank the board members who have contributed their time, experience and views that have certainly helped to realise these goals and continue to be an inspiration as change-makers in our communities as advocates for diverse community involvement on boards.

The Ebook is available as a free resource to all boards, available from our resource toolkit here.
